Chasing Waterfalls

June 25 - 27, 2021

SOLD OUT!

Join our caravan via scenic Hwy 395 to experience northern California and southern Oregon's
7 Most Spectacular Waterfalls.

"The Journey is as Important as the Destination"

Our caravan begins in Lake Tahoe and travels the lesser known section of Highway 395 through California and into Oregon.  Surrounded by dense green trees, the views are spectacular.

We are staying in Manzama Village Cabins and RV Park on the south rim of Crater Lake National Park.

From Crater Lake, we will spend a day dedicated to chasing waterfalls.
We drive to each area with easy hikes to each waterfall, all less than a mile and mostly flat.

Explore our itinerary below and be sure to join us for a fun filled long weekend.
Limited to the first 6 cabin reservations and unlimited RVs.

To respect Covid-19 concerns, transportation will not be provided.
You will drive in the safety of your own vehicle and caravan.

Itinerary

Friday June 25, 8:30am - Departures

Depart Raley's parking lot near Stateline in front of Marcus Ashley Gallery in South Lake Tahoe.  Late-comers will be expected to buy a round of drinks for the group.
Or, you can meet us at Burney Falls.

12:30 - Burney Falls

President Theodore Roosevelt called Burney Falls "the Eighth Wonder of the World".  The falls were declared a National Natural Landmark in December 1954 and in March 2021, a National Geographic article declared the site to be one of "northern California’s most spectacular waterfalls".  Movies including Willow (1988), Tarzan's Fight for Life (1958), The Treasure of Lost Canyon (1952), The Parson and the Outlaw (1957), and documentary Top Secret Waterfalls (2017) all included scenes of Burney Falls.

Picnic lunch by Chef Boyar G is included and served at the Falls.

4:00 - Arrive Crater Lake
We will be staying at The Cabins at Mazama Village near the south rim of Crater Lake.  Cabins, RV, and tents have been reserved based on your reservation selection with us.

After check-in and set-up, we will relax with a nice pasta dinner by Chef Boyar G.  Beverages not included so feel free to bring your own.

8:30 - Sunset Cocktails over Crater Lake

Saturday June 26, 9:00am - Chasing Waterfalls Day

Depart for waterfalls in separate vehicles throughout the Umpqua National Forest.  You free to carpool if you feel comfortable.

We will visit (scroll to top and click on the slideshow for photos):

  • National Creek Falls - In the middle of nowhere, but a gorgeous drive.

  • Clearwater Falls - Fun little waterfall right off Hwy 138.

  • Whitehorse Falls - Another quick trek from our parking spot.

  • Watson Falls - 3rd highest waterfall in Oregon

  • Toketee Falls - Most popular and where we will have lunch provided by Chef Boyar G.

  • Fall Creek Falls - I have not been here yet, but it looks beautiful.  It is an additional 90 minutes round trip.  I will be going, but for those already waterlogged, may head back to camp after Toketee.

Most of the waterfalls are less than an hour from each other and the hikes average less than 20 minutes.

~6:30pm BBQ Campfire Dinner by Chef Boyar G

8:30 - Sunset Cocktails over Crater Lake

Sunday June 27 - Departures

Nothing is scheduled for Sunday so you are welcome to get more sunrise photos, sleep in, explore Crater Lake in more detail, chill by the campsite, or head home.  I am debating on stopping off at Lava Beds National Monument but haven't decided yet.  On the way home, we will likely stop off for lunch at Lassen Ale Works Boardroom in Susanville, CA.

Reserve Now

Chasing Waterfalls Reservation

While I have visited each waterfall,
this is the first group trip.
Therefore, it is heavily discounted to account for any surprises.

Crater Lake lodging sells out fast!  Fortunately, I already reserved 6 cabins for those who are driving cars.  RV and tent sites are first-come, first-served, but I do not foresee an issue since most of their visitors opt for cabins at this time of year.

Packages include the pre-organization, lodging, and all primary (B,L,D) meals. Prices do not include your fuel, beverages, snacks, or $20 park entrance fee. Basically All-Inclusive!

  • Cabin Package - $585.00 dbl occupancy
2 queen bed cabin two nights, two breakfasts, lunches, and dinners.
Each additional person in same cabin - $110.

  • RV/Tent Package - $285.00 dbl occupancy
No hook up site, two breakfasts, lunches, and dinners.
    Each additional person - $110.

* Children under 7 free.
